The Quantum Thief is a fantastic science fiction novel. Jean le Flambeur is the mysterious (anti-)hero, who is a “post-human criminal, mind burglar, confidence artist and trickster.”
This is distant future science fiction, set mostly on Mars and took me two reads to understand as I lost the first third of the book on trying to grasp what all of the technology encountered was. Definitely worth two reads however, and I will be trying to pick up a copy of the sequel when it comes out.
This appealed to the mathematician in me, with a prison set up to reprogram criminals using a twist on the Prisoner’s Dilemma to open the book up, and keeping this level of science usage at many points in the story.
